Ingredients:

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line two baking sheets with parchment paper

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and 1 cup of chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and egg mixture, stirring until smooth

In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture, mixing until just combined

Fold in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using

Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies have set but are still soft in the center

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
